In a period when the economical bases of all the nations were suffering from the crisis of 1929, the crisis of the Vitivinícola Garibaldi, (it had already changed the denomination because of the new laws), was the lack of production. The company produced wine competed with the best national wines and the results were satisfactory, indicating to the leaders, the doctrine rules which surrounded the organization.
The rising rhythm showed the certainty of the founders.
The cooperative work has been the unique gun against the defense of the explorers, and in the economical area it was the only one way to redefine production according to consume. Actually the society future would be great. The 300 associates, who were intended for 1935, were, in fact, 416. New services were attended by the organization. The material supply to the associates used to give them a benefit of an equivalent of almost 100 réis for wine measure.
In 1942, the war, which was still happening, even distant, reflected in the lack of transport services for the company’s products. It did not avoid, however, the thought of the company in starting to have bottling processes in the principal consumer markets and in increasing its central canteen.
Some years went by. The war finished. The whole world could breathe in relief. All men started the work of renovating the earth for the several peace crops.
Then in 1947, an obvious notice was realized. A cooperative associate had received 141% more than a non-associate producer, for his grape fruit production. And that fact would be repeated for loads of times in the next years. Besides de central canteen, the cooperative had already had 16 wine process posts in the towns of Garibaldi, Bento Gonçalves and Farroupilha. They made brandy, vermouth and edgeways wine. All to value the associates’ products and to supply the consumers real quality products.
On the other hand, the time goes by and also the men...
Dr. Paulo Monteiro de Barros, dedicate leader of the organization, died in the capital of the Republic. He was an idealistic, interest’s defender of the agricultures, and constant helper in the emancipation fight.
In the report of 1948, we got the news concerning the happening of a phenomenon which, for the first time, was noticed and would bring risky consequences to the economical system of Brazil: the inflation.
The wine trade suffered a considerable loss. The old cost of life problem brought more bad consequences to the wine industry: people would start avoiding non essential products.
