Rota dos Espumantes

An outing along the Champagne town

"The show which was offered to my vision and which I admired for the first sight, would need to be perfectly described, for sure, the nib of a poet or the brush of a painter". In these words, Giuseppe Garibaldi describes in his memories his wonderment about the first contact with Rio Grande do Sul.

This enchantment is what Rota dos Espumantes (Sparkling Wines Route) makes alive in the town which was baptized in honor of the hero of two worlds. Garibaldi has maintained, for more than a century, the most refined flavors of the authentic Italian gastronomy with the most refined French champagnes.

The dream of a man who started to create his own roots in Graibaldi, in 1913, when, using a natural yeast process, created by the French abbot Don Pérignon, produced the first Brazilian champagne. In the same year, the quality of the new product was already public recognized, by the winning of the Golden Medal at the 1ª Grape Fruit Exposition, in which it was written: "Blessed is the earth which this blood warms".

Nowadays the bubble magic goes on. It was not by chance the title the town got as the Champagne Town. Also, not by chance, its history has been attracting each time more people who are looking for the "stars flavor", which only the sparkling wine produced here is able to offer.

An outing along Garibaldi can not avoid the canteens and vineyards abundance, as well as the good humor of these rosy face people.
